ODTÜ Design Factory students recently attended the “Mars Valley Urbanization Challenge” contest by HP as a group on behalf of ODTÜ and the Design Factory.
The first stage of this contest, the concept idea phase, continues until November 11, 2017.

Oussama Khatib, Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University visited METU Design Factory just before his seminar titled OCEAN ONE: A ROBOTIC AVATAR FOR OCEANIC DISCOVERY at Department of Electrics and Electronics Engineering.
Known for his research on methodologies and technologies in human-centered robotics including humanoid control architectures, human motion synthesis, interactive dynamic simulation, haptics, and human-friendly robot design, Professor Khatib will present his recent findings between 14:00-15:30 at Sevim Tan auditorium.
With support from the METU Technopolis and sponsored by industry and NGOs, METU Design Factory provides training, equipment and infrastructure to interdisciplinary student teams for collaborative design projects.
IDS brings students from different disciplines together in interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative products.
IDS-4 will be conducted as an elective course (ID403 Collaborative Design) offered to all departments in 2016 Fall semester.
On 21-22 October 2016, METU Teknokent’s incubation companies were educated on design thinking.
Participants had the opportunity to practice six basic phases of design thinking: understanding, observation, perspective development, idea development, model development and testing.
Participants who redefined the problem identified in the training through face-to-face interview with the users, prototyped the solutions they developed.
